A. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Q. What can damage a TPMS sensor?
A. sensor can be damaged in several ways—physically, electrically, or by environmental factors. Here are the most common causes:
Physical Damage
-
Improper Tyre Installation: When mounting or dismounting a tire, the sensor (usually inside the valve stem or attached to the wheel) can be struck by tools or machines.
-
Curb or Pothole Impact: Hitting curbs or deep potholes can damage the sensor or its housing.
-
Corroded Valve Stem: TPMS sensors with metal valve stems are prone to corrosion, especially from road salt or moisture, leading to cracks or breaks.

Battery Failure

-
Sensor Battery Life: Most TPMS sensors are sealed units powered by non-replaceable batteries that last about 5–10 years. Once the battery dies, the whole sensor needs replacement.
Road Salt, Water and Brake Dust can also damage a sensor over time.
